Ulcinj in 3 days: Old Town, beaches and the Bojana River
Ulcinj's Old Town is a lived-in fortified quarter on a rocky outcrop above the sea, with narrow streets, passages and houses shaped by the steep terrain. A summer stay combines walks around town with plenty of beach time on sandy and pebbly shores. Three days leave time to explore the town and spend a full morning at each of two different beaches.

Why this itinerary is worth planning
This itinerary suits travelers who want long mornings at the beach and are comfortable walking the stone streets and slopes of Old Town. The town day has a longer break after lunch, while each beach day leaves four hours for swimming and rest.
The plan is for July-September and three full days, with accommodation in central Ulcinj near Small Beach. The first day is on foot, while a rental car is used for Long Beach, the Bojana River and Valdanos. Lunch at Misko and Mashtra depends on confirming the time and visitor parking in advance.
Day-by-day itinerary
| Day | What to see | Transport | Total time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Old Town and seaside walks | On foot | 9 hours |
| Day 2 | Long Beach and lunch by the Bojana River | Rental car and short walks | 9 hours |
| Day 3 | Valdanos Beach and lunch among olive trees | Rental car and short walks | 8 hours |
The total includes travel, visits, swimming, meals and planned breaks. Each day's total is rounded up once to the next whole hour. These times are estimates for an independent stay, and summer traffic, finding parking or a different accommodation address may make the days longer.
Day 1: Old Town and seaside walks
Why this day is worth planning
The first day shows Ulcinj from two levels: the stone streets within the walls and Pristan below them. The afternoon walk follows the road above the coast toward Albatros, with Small Beach visible below the old walls at the start of the route.

| Midday | Pristan and Small Beach (Mala Plaza) | 1 h 15 min |
| Lunch | Lunch and a rest in the coastal center | 3 h 30 min |
| Afternoon | Walk toward the pine forest and Albatros | 1 h 30 min |
Ulcinj Old Town
The streets of Old Town follow the steep terrain, pass beneath vaulted arches and open onto small squares between stone houses. Within the walls, the upper section with the Citadel is distinct from the lower residential quarter.
If you leave your accommodation in the coastal center around 10:00, the walk and climb are estimated at 20 minutes. That leaves 1 hour and 40 minutes to explore the streets and view the buildings from outside, followed by 15 minutes downhill toward Pristan. The total is 2 hours and 15 minutes.
From the coastal center, the approach follows Ulcinjskih moreplovaca street. The visit covers public streets and the buildings' exteriors.
Pristan and Small Beach (Mala Plaza)
Small Beach is a sandy bathing beach in the town center, with a promenade and places to eat and drink just behind the shore. At its end, below the Old Town walls, is a small harbor. From Pristan, you see the stone quarter up close from sea level.
The estimate includes 20 minutes walking along the shore, 25 minutes looking around the harbor and beach, and half an hour for coffee and sitting down. Small Beach is a place for a walk and a view of the town on this day.
From the lower part of Old Town, the walk descends to Pristan and Small Beach.
Lunch and a rest in the coastal center
The places behind Small Beach offer several options for lunch in the coastal center. The Ulcinj dining recommendations help with deciding where and what to eat.
The return to your accommodation is estimated at 15 minutes, with another 15 to freshen up. Lunch is around 14:00, with an hour for the meal and two hours to rest before the later walk. The total is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Walk toward the pine forest and Albatros
The pine-covered coast begins east of Small Beach. Steva Djakonovica Cice street leads toward Albatros above the smaller coastal bathing spots. From the beginning of the route, Small Beach is visible below the old walls. After walking those streets earlier, you now see the town from the other side of the shore.
The walk from your coastal accommodation toward Albatros is estimated at 30 minutes each way if you leave around 17:00. Another half hour is set aside for stops to look around by the coast. The total, including the return, is 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The walk follows Steva Djakonovica Cice street to the area in front of Albatros and returns the same way.
Day 2: Long Beach and lunch by the Bojana River
Why this day is worth planning
Long Beach has a broad stretch of fine sand, while lunch by the Bojana takes place beside the river. Four hours at Miami Beach followed by a meal on the riverbank give this day two different experiences of Ulcinj's coast.

If you leave your coastal accommodation around 9:00, the approach is estimated at 15 minutes walking to the car, 20 minutes driving, and 5 minutes each for parking and walking to the beach. Four hours remain on the beach, from 9:45 to 13:45. Including the journey there, the total is 4 hours and 45 minutes.

On the second and third days, the car route starts at Parking Old Town, on the landward approach to Old Town. The walk from your accommodation in the coastal center near Small Beach to the car is estimated at 15 minutes. The same walk is included in the total return time.
The route toward Albatros
The first day's walk ends in the area in front of Albatros. Morsko dobro announced the start of construction of a promenade from the hotel toward Cape Djerane. That onward section is outside this itinerary. The return follows the same street back to the coastal center.
Questions about a three-day stay in Ulcinj
Do you need a car for this three-day stay?
The first day is on foot from your accommodation in the coastal center. A rental car is used on the second and third days: to Long Beach and the Bojana River, then to Valdanos. The daily totals include parking, short walks and the return to the same accommodation.
Is Small Beach or Long Beach better for a day by the sea?
Small Beach is the town beach beside Old Town, with a promenade and places to eat and drink just behind the sand. Long Beach is a much longer and wider stretch of sand outside that quarter. This itinerary uses Small Beach for the town walk and Miami Beach on Long Beach for four hours of swimming and rest.
Does time by the Bojana River mean visiting a nudist beach?
No. This activity is lunch and time by the river at Misko restaurant, without entering the nudist resort or swimming at Ada Bojana. Ada Bojana is also known for naturist tourism, but a particular resort or beach section has its own rules, separate from this restaurant visit.
