Herceg Novi continues the waterfront walk from Igalo. Perast and Kotor lie farther inside the bay. Tivat, Porto Montenegro and Lustica Bay are toward its opposite side.
Car rental and day trips
For an airport arrival or a drive to Dubrovnik, the pickup location and countries covered by the rental agreement matter.
Before you go
The Dr Simo Milosevic Institute was founded in 1949 as a spa treatment center. This history explains why Igalo receives rehabilitation guests as well as visitors staying by the sea.
Tours open part of Tito’s former residence, including meeting rooms and apartments. The Institute publishes visit schedules. The waterfront walkway does not provide unrestricted entry to the villa.
Yes. Stara Banja is a sandy beach with a long shallow stretch of water.
The promenade runs along the shore, but residential streets above it can climb. Before booking, check the actual walking route from the accommodation to the sea rather than relying on a straight-line distance.
Herceg Novi is reachable on foot or by local bus. For Kotor and Perast, check outbound and return connections through Herceg Novi bus station. Boat excursions vary by season and operator.
JP Morsko dobro publishes results for individual beaches in its bathing-water monitoring app. Select the beach and sampling date. An old result or the appearance of the water does not establish its current quality.
You can devote a day to Igalo’s waterfront and Herceg Novi. With several days, add a separate trip to the inner bay or Orjen. The length of an Institute program should be agreed with the Institute independently of sightseeing plans.
Summer offers more swimming and seasonal boat excursions. The waterfront walk to Herceg Novi and Villa Galeb can also justify a visit outside the bathing season, subject to confirmed tour dates and Institute arrangements.
