Cetinje gives access to Lovcen, Kotor to its historic town on the bay, Tivat to the airport and marina, and Bar to Old Bar and the southern coast.

If your trip continues to the bay, Bar or the north, check the terms for returning a rental car somewhere other than its pickup location.
Before you go
The Modern Gallery holds works by Yugoslav artists including Petar Lubarda, Milo Milunovic and Dado Djuric.
The stations are on Trg Golootockih zrtava. This is a different place from Trg nezavisnosti in the center.
Walk from the Clock Tower in Stara Varos down to the Ribnica-Moraca confluence, then continue to Trg nezavisnosti and Njegosev Park. Millennium Bridge and Gorica Hill work as extensions to a longer visit.
A full day works for a city visit. If you keep your accommodation here, allow separate days for Lake Skadar, Cetinje or Ostrog. Driving there and back takes more than an extension to a short downtown walk.
Not for the central city. Doclea and outings farther away need separate transport. For Lake Skadar, Cetinje or Ostrog, compare public connections, an organized excursion and a rental car, including how you will return that day.
Konoba Lanterna is at Kralja Nikole 36. Look for popeci and japraci by name on the current menu, since a restaurant offering local cuisine may not serve both dishes.
The waterfall is on the Cijevna near Kuce Rakica. Summer flow is weaker, and the cascade can dry up during dry spells. A photograph taken in wetter conditions does not show what you will necessarily find, so check recent conditions before making the trip.
We recommend April, May or October for longer visits to Stara Varos and the Roman site of Duklja. In 2025, Podgorica recorded 92 nights when the temperature did not fall below 20°C. For a long walk in July or August, an early start is therefore a better choice than relying on the evening to bring relief from the heat.
