Parking in Podgorica

Where to park in Podgorica

Podgorica has fewer parking spaces than the city needs, so finding an available space can take time. Paid street-parking zones also exist in residential neighborhoods outside the center. Regular street spaces in paid zones have time limits, and some parking lots are reserved for subscribers.

Zone II0.50 €2 hours14552
Zone III0.40 €3 hours14553

Paid street zones charge on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 am to midnight. Garages and gated lots have their own access rules.

To pay by SMS, enter your license plate number without spaces or other characters and send it to the number for your zone in the table. One message buys one hour. Wait for a reply confirming a successful payment, the zone and the expiry time. If no confirmation arrives or the payment fails, buy a ticket from a parking meter or a marked sales outlet.

If the zone allows more time, send another message before the previous hour expires. Once you reach the maximum stay, move the car. Another payment for the same zone will not be accepted for the next 30 minutes.

If your phone number cannot use the local SMS service, select the zone and permitted duration at a parking meter, insert coins, collect the ticket and display it behind the windshield. The Parking servis app also sells tickets for the selected zone, and hourly tickets are available at marked sales outlets.

Day ticket

The €1.50 day ticket applies only to spaces in Zones II and III with an additional sign. A standard hourly SMS payment does not buy a day ticket. For day-ticket payment instructions, call Parking servis on 020 652 506.

Fines and towing

Parking charges, penalty notices and towing

Unpaid parking in a paid zone€2.40-€2.60 per charge

Parking servis issues a parking charge, not a penalty notice. It is €2.60 in Zone I, €2.50 in Zone II and €2.40 in Zone III. Pay within eight days of issue using the instructions on the charge. Check outstanding parking charges on the Parking servis website.

Illegal parking or stopping€100 per penalty notice

The legal fine for parking in a prohibited place or obstructing traffic ranges from €100 to €300. A penalty notice imposes the minimum amount in that range. It is separate from a charge for unpaid zone parking.

Vehicle towing€65 for the first 24 hours

Loading and unloading cost €30, transport €30 and storage for up to 24 hours €5. Each further 24 hours of storage costs another €5. Removal costs are separate from the traffic fine.

Paying a penalty notice

If you accept responsibility, the regular procedure allows you to pay half the fine within eight days of accepting the notice. A €100 penalty would therefore cost €50.

An exception applies to a person without permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro, or someone leaving the country, when the competent authority has reasonable grounds to suspect that they will evade enforcement. In that case, two-thirds of the fine must be paid without delay. Use the amount and payment instructions on your own notice.

If your car is missing, check the Parking servis app to see whether it was towed. The city has published a pickup location on Mitra Bakica Street b.b., by the Petrol gas station. Before going there, call 067 177 758 to confirm where your car is.
