Where to park in Kotor
In Kotor, you park outside the Old Town walls and explore the Old Town on foot. Space for cars near the historic center is limited, particularly during the season, and hourly rates vary considerably between the parking lots by the harbor and those on the approach from Skaljari. Summer rates at the parking lots beside the walls continue into fall, through the end of October.

- Lowest rate listed
- €0.90
- Highest rate listed

You can approach the Old Town from Riva, across the Skurda or from Skaljari. If you are staying inside the walls, you will walk from the parking lot to your accommodation with your luggage, so plan your arrival around the town gate you will use.

01Riva for the Sea Gate
For entry through the Sea Gate, you can park at Riva, directly in front of the Old Town.
Cars with up to five seats pay €4.80 per hour or part of an hour from April 1 to October 31, and €2.40 from November 1 to March 31.
Kotor residents receive a 50% discount on the first hour or part of an hour when they show a valid ID at the barrier.
From Riva, continue on foot toward the Sea Gate. If there is no space, Benovo offers another approach to the Old Town at a lower hourly rate.
02Benovo for the northern side of the Old Town
Benovo suits an approach across the Skurda, on the northern side of the Old Town walls.
Benovo 2 is a separate parking lot for Old Town residents.
For cars with up to five seats, each hour or part of an hour costs €1.90 from April 1 to October 31 and €1.10 from November 1 to March 31.
The first 15 minutes are free only on working days between 7 and 8 a.m.
From the parking lot, continue toward the North Gate. Riva is an alternative if Benovo is full and you are willing to pay a higher rate for parking by the Sea Gate.
03Autoboka when arriving through the Vrmac Tunnel
If you arrive through the Vrmac Tunnel, you can leave your car at Autoboka before continuing toward the Old Town.
For cars with up to five seats, the rate is €0.90 per hour or part of an hour all year.
To visit the Old Town, continue from here on foot toward the walls. If Autoboka is full, Benovo is another public parking lot for that visit.
04Arriving with luggage for a stay in the Old Town
For accommodation inside the walls, agree with your host which town gate to use with your bags and where you will meet. If you need help with your luggage, arrange it before you arrive.
If you are bringing a stroller or need an approach without steps, ask for a description of the walking route from the parking lot to your accommodation.
Rates from April to October and from November to March
April 1 to October 31November 1 to March 31
Autoboka's hourly rate stays the same in both periods.
Parking charges, penalty notices and towing
The legal fine for parking in a prohibited place or obstructing traffic ranges from €100 to €300. A penalty notice imposes the minimum amount in that range. It is separate from a charge for unpaid zone parking.
Loading and unloading cost €30, transport €30 and storage for up to 24 hours €5. Each further 24 hours of storage costs another €5. Removal costs are separate from the traffic fine.
Paying a penalty notice
If you accept responsibility, the regular procedure allows you to pay half the fine within eight days of accepting the notice. A €100 penalty would therefore cost €50.
An exception applies to a person without permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro, or someone leaving the country, when the competent authority has reasonable grounds to suspect that they will evade enforcement. In that case, two-thirds of the fine must be paid without delay. Use the amount and payment instructions on your own notice.
If your car is missing, check with Kotor Municipal Police to see whether it was towed. Before going there, call 032 323 528 or 032 323 529 to confirm where your car is and ask for collection instructions.

Frequently asked questions about parking in Kotor
What should I arrange for parking if I am staying several nights?
Contact Komunalno Kotor at 032 325 677 and ask how the charges and terms apply to your vehicle and the length of your stay. Autoboka's €50 daily rate applies to passenger vehicles with seven or more seats and special passenger vehicles, rather than cars with up to five seats.
Does parking listed with accommodation mean a free space at the property?
Do not assume that without confirmation from your host. Before booking, ask for the parking lot's name and location, whether a space is included in the price and whether you need to reserve it in advance. If the accommodation uses public parking, also clarify whether you pay the standard hourly rate or have a separate parking arrangement through your accommodation.
Can I use an unmarked area on the approach from the tunnel as free parking?
Do not treat the unpaved area opposite Auto Moto as free public parking. Municipal Police have taken action over illegal parking there. Use Autoboka when arriving from that direction.
