Parking in Tivat

Where to park in Tivat

Tivat's summer crowds put particular pressure on parking in the town center and along the waterfront. There are two paid street-parking zones as well as separate parking lots, and summer and winter rates differ even within the same part of town.

The Red and Yellow Zones apply to street parking. Their tickets do not cover the separate parking lots along Tivat's waterfront or at the airport. For a short stop, each hour or part of an hour counts toward the bill, while for a day in town the daily rate may change where you choose to park.

Djacka and Muzicka skola for the center and Pine

For the town center and Pine, start with Djacka if a lower price matters more to you. Muzicka skola parking on Stanicica Street is another option when arriving from that side of the center. From either lot, continue to the waterfront on foot.

These are separate parking facilities, so you cannot buy their tickets by sending an SMS for the Red or Yellow street-parking zone. Both are open from 7 am to midnight and give you the first 15 minutes free.

Djacka costs €0.70 per hour or part of an hour in summer and €0.50 in winter. A day ticket costs €7 or €5 respectively. Muzicka skola charges €0.80 in summer and €0.70 in winter, with day tickets at €8 and €7 respectively. A lost ticket costs €10 at either lot.

02
Arsenal for Porto Montenegro and the cheaper Djacka alternative

For Porto Montenegro, choose Arsenal if you want parking on Arsenalska Street, beside the marina complex. Djacka is an alternative if a lower price matters more and you are happy to walk to Porto from the town side.

Arsenal is open from 8 am to 10 pm. It is a separate parking facility where you pay for parking before leaving. After payment, you have 15 minutes to exit. Those 15 minutes are not a free period on arrival. Arsenal has no initial free parking period.

Arsenal costs €2 per hour or part of an hour in summer and €1.50 in winter. Four billable hours cost €8 or €6, compared with €2.80 or €2 at Djacka. The difference is €5.20 in summer and €4 in winter. A lost ticket at Arsenal costs €50.

03
Ribarski put parking for Kalimanj

For Kalimanj, use Ribarski put parking on the street of the same name beside the marina. If arriving along Stanicica Street suits you, Muzicka skola is an alternative with lower hourly and daily rates.

Ribarski put is a separate parking facility open from 7 am to 10 pm. There is no free initial 15-minute period. Its rates are different from those for Yellow Zone street spaces on Kalimanjska Street.

Ribarski put costs €1.50 per hour or part of an hour, or €15 for a day ticket, all year. At Muzicka skola, a day ticket costs €8 in summer and €7 in winter. For a full-day stay, the difference is €7 or €8 respectively, if that location suits you.

04
Tivat Airport parking for passenger pickups and longer stays

Use Tivat Airport parking to pick up passengers or arrive for a flight. Charges start when you enter, so even a short wait for a passenger counts toward your parking time. There is a daily rate for leaving your car while you travel, separate from the town's street-parking zones.

The parking lot is open 24 hours a day. Pay for parking before leaving. You have 10 minutes to exit after payment. This is not a free waiting period on arrival.

The rate is €2 per hour or part of an hour, or €15 for a day ticket, with no summer or winter difference. A lost ticket costs €50.

Red€1.00 / €0.80As posted at the space14590
Yellow€0.80 / €0.70As posted at the space14701

Paid street zones charge from 7 am to 11 pm in summer, from May 1 to September 30, and from 7 am to 9 pm in winter, from October 1 to April 30. In winter, parking is not charged on Sundays or public holidays. In summer, parking is also charged on Sundays, except on public holidays. Garages and gated lots have their own access rules.

To pay by SMS, enter prefix 3 for the Red Zone or 1 for the Yellow Zone, a space, then your license plate number without spaces or other characters. Send it to the number for your zone in the table. One such message buys one hour. Wait for a reply confirming a successful payment, the license plate number, zone and expiry time. If no confirmation arrives or the payment fails, buy a ticket at a kiosk or an authorized sales point.

When your paid parking time expires, you have 15 minutes to pay for more time or move the car. The first 15 minutes after arrival are free. Check the sign at the space where you parked for the permitted stay.

If your phone number cannot use the local SMS service, buy a parking ticket at a kiosk or an authorized sales point.

Day ticket

A day ticket for the Red Zone costs €10.00 in summer and €8.00 in winter, and for the Yellow Zone €8.00 in summer and €7.00 in winter. It is valid only in the zone you paid for, from the hour of purchase until the same hour on the next day on which parking is charged. A standard hourly SMS payment does not buy a day ticket: for the Red Zone, send prefix 4 and your license plate number to 14590, and for the Yellow Zone prefix 2 and your license plate number to 14701, with a space between the prefix and plate number. You can also buy a ticket at an authorized sales point. It is not valid at Arsenal, Djacka, Muzicka skola or Ribarski put, or at the airport.

Arsenal has the largest seasonal difference in hourly rates among these town parking options. Each hour or part of an hour costs €0.50 more in summer.

Ribarski put stays at €1.50 per hour or part of an hour, and Tivat Airport at €2, all year. Both have a €15 day ticket. Lower seasonal rates in town therefore do not mean a lower airport rate.

Fines and towing

Parking charges, penalty notices and towing

Illegal parking or stopping€100 per penalty notice

The legal fine for parking in a prohibited place or obstructing traffic ranges from €100 to €300. A penalty notice imposes the minimum amount in that range. It is separate from a charge for unpaid zone parking.

Paying a penalty notice

If you accept responsibility, the regular procedure allows you to pay half the fine within eight days of accepting the notice. A €100 penalty would therefore cost €50.

An exception applies to a person without permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro, or someone leaving the country, when the competent authority has reasonable grounds to suspect that they will evade enforcement. In that case, two-thirds of the fine must be paid without delay. Use the amount and payment instructions on your own notice.

If your car is missing, check with Parking Servis Tivat to see whether it was towed. Before going there, call 068 801 645 or 032 780 190 to confirm where your car is and ask for collection instructions.

Common questions about parking in Tivat

Do I pay for street parking on Sundays or late in the evening?

In the Red and Yellow Zones, parking is charged on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 am to 11 pm. Sundays and hours outside that period are not included in this charging schedule. This applies to street zones, not separate parking facilities such as Arsenal or the airport, which have their own opening hours and charges.

Is there a parking ticket for a week's stay in Tivat?

There is a seven-day DTK tourist package. It costs €50 in summer and €40 in winter for the Red Zone, or €40 in summer and €30 in winter for the Yellow Zone. It is a tourist package for a street zone, not seven days of parking at the airport or Arsenal. For purchase details and conditions relating to your vehicle, contact Parking Servis Tivat on 068 801 645.

How much do I pay if I wait 20 minutes for a passenger at the airport?

You pay for one hour or part of an hour, which costs €2. If you wait more than an hour, you pay for a second hour. The 10-minute exit period begins after payment and does not reduce the time you spent waiting for your passenger.
