Getting from the airport to Budva

In this section, you can compare the bus, taxi and car rental options for reaching Budva. Tivat is close, but the bus and direct rides do not start at the same place or take you to the same point in town.

Bus to the station in Rozino

The bus to Budva departs from Tivat Bus Station in Bonići. It is about a 20-minute walk from the terminal, and with several suitcases you can cover that part by taxi. In Budva, the bus ends at the station in Rozino. It is an affordable way to reach town, but it is not a direct airport bus, and you still need to continue from the town station to your accommodation.

Taxi transport from the airport

You can book Red Taxi for the ride from TIV to Budva. Pick-up is at the airport, and you agree the destination when booking, so you do not need to go to Tivat's bus station. For accommodation within the Old Town, agree a point that a car can reach.

Car rental at the airport

Picking up a car at TIV combines your journey to Budva with drives during your stay. It makes sense when you continue from Budva to other coastal places or plan trips inland. Arrange the collection and return locations with the agency, and plan parking at your accommodation if you keep the vehicle for several days.

Details and recommendations for your arrival

Find departure points, tickets and return connections in the transport and parking details on this page. In the transport recommendation, you can compare renting for your whole stay with a booked taxi ride from the airport.

02

Returning from Budva to the airport

You can organise the return from Budva to TIV by bus via Tivat's station or with a direct ride. With the bus, the journey to the terminal remains after arriving in Tivat. With a rental car, you also need to complete the vehicle return. Allow for this when planning your departure from Budva and arrival at the airport before the flight.

When to arrive at TIV

Arrive at TIV at least two hours before the scheduled departure. The drive from Budva, parking and returning a rental car must be completed before that time. If the airline requires an earlier arrival, its deadline takes priority.

The return journey from Budva

The return bus journey starts at the station in Rozino and ends at Tivat Bus Station. The terminal is then approximately a 20-minute walk or a separate taxi ride away. Because of this final leg, the bus arrival time in Tivat is not your arrival time at the airport.

For a direct taxi return, arrange pick-up in Budva and the price for that direction. With car rental, confirm the location and time for returning the vehicle at TIV. If you collected the car at another airport, returning it in Tivat needs to be part of the confirmed booking.

Transport details for the return to the airport

You can find return departures and the route from the station to the terminal in the transport and parking details. If you are considering a taxi or returning a rental car, the transport recommendation contains contacts and terms to arrange for that direction.

Arrival via Croatia and the Bay of Kotor, with a border crossing. The bus route goes through Gruž, where airport and international tickets are bought separately.

Dubrovnik makes sense if your trip also includes Croatia or a flight to DBV suits you better. The onward journey to Budva crosses the border and, by bus, goes through Gruž. Airport departures follow flight arrivals, while the bus to Budva has a separate timetable, so the connection is not automatically linked to your flight.

Car rental at DBV

Hiring a car at DBV can connect a stay in Dubrovnik with the onward journey through the Bay of Kotor to Budva. Obtain the rental company's permission and confirmation of insurance for driving into Montenegro before paying for the booking. Returning the car in Montenegro is arranged separately, so the drop-off location should be stated in the offer.

Taxi transport from the airport

A DBV-Budva transfer with TTM costs €160 per vehicle, including luggage and meeting you at the airport. For the return, request an offer for Budva-DBV. Both directions cross the border, and the transfer price does not guarantee how long border delays will last.

Platanus departs outside the DBV arrivals area, by the Shuttle bus sign. Vehicles carry the Platanus logo. You can buy a ticket at the airport counter or through Platanus. A one-way ticket costs €10, and the journey to Gruž takes approximately 35 minutes.

The bus leaves the airport approximately 30 minutes after each flight lands. In Gruž, change to the Dubrovnik-Budva bus and buy a second ticket costing €30-38 per passenger. Open the onward timetable before booking this combination.

For the return journey from Rozino, take the Budva-Dubrovnik bus. A one-way ticket to Gruž costs €30-38 per passenger, and the fastest services take about three hours. Frequently asked questions about transport to Budva

How much is the bus journey for two people?

Two one-way Tivat-Budva tickets cost €7-12 in total. This covers the bus leg between the town stations. From TIV, you can walk to Tivat's station in about 20 minutes or take a separately paid taxi.

Where should transport be arranged for accommodation in the Old Town?

Agree a point that a vehicle can reach with your accommodation and give it when booking a taxi. If you keep a hire car, arrange parking as well. An address within the walls does not mean a vehicle can reach the door.

Is the taxi fare the same for Budva and Bečići?

With Red Taxi, the ride from TIV costs €45 to Budva, €50 to Bečići and €55 to Sveti Stefan per vehicle. These are this company's fares for separate destinations. Give your exact address when booking instead of describing the whole riviera as Budva.
