01Walks and time by the sea
Walk through the Old Town and along its walls
You can keep your Old Town walk to the narrow streets and small squares, or add a climb onto the city walls. At street level, the narrow lanes and facades are the focus of the walk. From the elevated walkway, you look across the rooftops toward the sea. These are two ways to explore the same historic center, with the walls adding an optional view from above.
Walking through the streets does not require a tour reservation. For entry to the walls, the institution lists a 2 € ticket and an opening season from April to November. The Citadel has separate entry conditions. If you want to add a visit to the fortifications or churches, you'll find their descriptions in the guide to the Old Town and its attractions. A coastal walk and a swim at Mogren
Mogren suits an outing where a coastal walk leads into a swim, without driving to other beaches on the Riviera. From Hotel Avala, about 350 m of concrete path runs beneath the cliffs to the first cove. A passage leads to the second beach, so you can stay in one cove or walk through both before choosing where to stop.
Mogren is also an option for an independent coastal walk outside the swimming season. When choosing this walk, consider the Budva Tourism Organization's warning against using the path during southerly winds and strong waves. Mogren, walking and swimming on Google Maps.
02Museum visits, art exhibitions and summer events
Archaeology and ethnography at the City Museum
At the City Museum, you can focus on archaeology or extend your visit to the ethnographic display on the top floor. The first three levels are devoted to archaeology. The archaeological display includes clay vessels used in daily life and later placed in graves, as well as a helmet with cheek guards. You can focus your visit on traces of ancient customs and the making of these objects, rather than quickly passing every display case.
The top floor offers a different focus. Its urban and rural sections cover fishing, seafaring, furniture and household equipment. The objects on display include navigation instruments and a log used to measure a ship's speed. Add this floor if you want to follow the archaeological section with a look at the area's more recent cultural history.
The museum is at 11 Petra I Petrovica Street. The standard adult ticket is 5 €, and the museum is closed on Mondays. See the institution's published opening hours for the day of your visit. City Museum on Google Maps.
An art exhibition at Jovo Ivanovic Modern Gallery
Choose a visit to Jovo Ivanovic Modern Gallery according to the theme of the announced exhibition. That determines whether you'll see painting, drawing, printmaking or another form of visual art. The announcement for Nikola Karadeglic's exhibition, with an opening date of September 25, 2026, describes his exploration of drawing, printmaking techniques and materials through themes of people and society. In this example, you can also pay attention to the surface the drawing is printed on, whose unusual texture is highlighted in the announcement. The opening date does not confirm that the exhibition will still be running when you arrive.
The gallery is at 19 Cara Dusana Street, with free admission. Gallery announcements explain the exhibition's content, while the visiting schedule shows when the space is open. Visiting the gallery during an Old Town walk does not require booking a guided program. Jovo Ivanovic Modern Gallery on Google Maps.
A summer evening at Grad teatar
Grad teatar is an option for a summer evening at a play, concert or literary event. The content of an individual event matters more to your choice than the festival's name alone. The concert "Ljetnje refleksije" in July 2026 combined solo piano and piano for four hands with projected photographs at Santa Maria in Punta. A program like this brings music and images together in an old church space, offering a different reason to go out from an independent walk through the Old Town.
Another festival outing was an evening with poet Andrija Radulovic at the open-air Trg pjesnika, moderated by Aleksandar Cukovic. Both events have ended. For your stay, choose an event from the Grad teatar program, with its own date, venue and entry conditions. The festival does not run year-round, and the duration of a performance does not include your whole evening with travel there and back. Old Town, walk and festival venue area on Google Maps.
03Paddling, boat trips and tandem flights
A guided kayak or SUP tour to coastal caves
On EDDY's guided Coastal Caves tour, you paddle along the outside of the Old Town toward the coastal caves, with swimming breaks. You propel the kayak or SUP yourself, making this a physically active outing on the sea. The departure and return point is Slovenska Beach.
The Coastal Caves program lists 7 km and three hours. It includes the kayak or SUP, a life jacket, a dry bag, basic instruction, a guide and snorkeling equipment. Beginners receive instruction, but you need to be able to spend several active hours on the water. Arrive ten minutes before the start. Sea conditions can change the route and access to the caves. A boat trip along the Riviera with swimming stops
If you want to travel along the Riviera and swim during stops without paddling the whole route, choose a boat outing with a skipper. Outdoor Montenegro lists a four-hour program from Budva's marina. It sails to Sveti Stefan for a swimming stop, then continues along the coast to other coves, beaches and caves before returning to Budva. Here, you experience Sveti Stefan from the sea, without a promise of entry to the hotel island.
The published boat program costs 45 € per adult. It includes a skipper and guide, life jackets, snorkeling equipment and a SUP, drinks and snacks. Transport to the marina and spending at the beach bar are not included. The map marks the marina area, while the organizer gives you the exact boarding point and confirms your departure. The four hours refer to the program, with travel to and from your accommodation taking additional time. Marina, boat tour departure area on Google Maps.
Tandem paragliding above the Budva coast
For a view of Budva's coast from the air, you can choose tandem paragliding with a pilot who controls the flight. The Montefly Budva program begins with a meeting in Becici, followed by a drive to the launch area in Brajici and a short walk before takeoff. You can take the flight without previous paragliding experience.
Montefly's program lists around 15 to 20 minutes of flight time and about an hour for the experience, including transport from Becici and the approach to the launch area. A GoPro recording costs an extra 15 €. Sneakers are recommended. Travel from Budva to the meeting point is arranged separately, and the time slot depends on the weather and wind. The map marks the meeting point in Becici and the launch area separately. The marker in Brajici is not a place you should travel to independently before the tour.
