Waterfront walks, swimming and gallery exhibitions

Things to do in Petrovac

In Petrovac, you can walk along the waterfront with views of the islands, pause beside the boats in the harbor and follow your walk with a drink or meal by the sea. For swimming, choose between the smaller Lucice bay close to town and Buljarica's long shoreline. For a cultural outing, visit an exhibition at the Marko Krstov Gregovic Gallery in Crvena Komuna, where displays change throughout the year.

You can organize a waterfront walk or beach visit yourself, while a gallery outing depends on the exhibition available during your stay. The overview compares the time involved and how to take part, while two maps show the locations along Petrovac's waterfront and at Buljarica.

For the history of Kastio, the surviving mosaics and the monastery complexes, see Petrovac's attractions. After the activity descriptions, you can continue to plans for your stay and other excursions.

The town waterfront, gallery and beaches

The first map marks the waterfront, Crvena Komuna and Lucice, while the second shows the western stretch of Buljarica's shoreline. Lucice and Buljarica have separate markers linking to the same swimming description. The beach and waterfront markers show areas where you can spend time, without specifying the start of a walk, parking or an approach route.

01
Walking along the town waterfront

A waterfront walk with a break by the sea

Petrovac's town beach with the waterfront and outdoor terraces behind it

Walk along the waterfront beside the town beach, with houses and outdoor terraces on one side and the sea and islands on the other. At the western end of the shoreline, the walk leads toward the harbor and Kastio's walls. Pause beside the boats and look across the bay, then continue your outing with a drink or meal by the water.

For a shorter outing, choose a stretch of the promenade close to your accommodation. For a longer walk, continue to the harbor and return along the same waterfront. The time needed depends on that stretch and your breaks, so you can fit the walk in before or after swimming. 02
Swimming in two different bays

Swimming at Lucice or Buljarica

Lucice beach in a bay below a wooded headland

Lucice is a choice for swimming close to Petrovac, in a smaller bay between two headlands with pines and cypresses behind the beach. You can walk there from town, swim and leave time to relax before returning. To keep your beach outing close to your accommodation in Petrovac, Lucice is easier to combine with a waterfront walk than a trip farther along the coast.

At Buljarica, you can combine swimming with a longer walk along the beach. The shoreline extends toward Bar and gives you more room to walk between stops by the water. The Budva Tourist Organization describes the part nearer Petrovac as sandier, while much of the beach is gravel and stone. Choose a swimming spot with a surface you find comfortable for entering the sea.

Arrange your trip to Buljarica and back separately, since time on the beach is only part of the whole outing from Petrovac. How long you spend swimming and resting is up to you. For space without renting sun loungers and information on water quality, see the answers below, which address these two questions before you head to the beach. Lucice, beach area on Google Maps. An exhibition outing in Petrovac

An exhibition visit at Crvena Komuna

At the Marko Krstov Gregovic Gallery in the Crvena Komuna Memorial House on the waterfront, you can visit a temporary art exhibition. The gallery program uses three exhibition spaces, with announced shows of painting, printmaking and sculpture. Check the exhibition announcements for your stay to find an artist or technique that interests you, then spend your visit viewing the works.

One specific example is Milo-Mico Vukovic's exhibition, announced for September and part of October 2026, featuring eighteen large oil paintings on canvas. Since the exact closing date was not published, check which exhibition is open during your stay and its visiting hours. The gallery is on the town waterfront, so you can combine a visit with a walk along the promenade. Crvena Komuna and gallery, building on Google Maps.

Questions before a coastal outing

How can I find space without renting sun loungers?

Look for space for your own towel or chair using the information board and layout of the specific beach. In its published overview, Morsko dobro distinguishes public and hotel beaches and describes designated areas without beach furniture. A hotel section may have a different layout, so the beach's name alone does not tell you where you can spend time without renting sun loungers.

Does clear water or an old review confirm seawater quality for swimming?

Use the result for the specific beach, with its sampling date, to make that assessment. The Morsko dobro monitoring program also measures microbiological indicators, while color and clarity are only part of the data. Clear water or a visitor's earlier impression therefore does not replace the published analyses. A result from one sampling location does not automatically describe every beach around Petrovac.

Does every boat or kayak trip return to the same place?

A trip may end at a different location. For example, EDDY publishes a Budva-Petrovac sea kayaking route, with the meeting point on Slovenska beach in Budva. If you are staying in Petrovac, clarify how you will get to the start and return after paddling, including whether a transfer is included in the price. The destination's name alone does not tell you whether the outing is a round trip or where you meet the organizer.
