Get to know the town where you are staying
In Petrovac, you can do your everyday shopping in town and spend time by the sea over coffee or on a walk outside the swimming season. Local community council representatives raised concerns about beach cleanliness and use of the promenade, spaces residents share with visitors in summer. Seasonal hotel and hospitality work also brings people to Petrovac to work.
Here you can read how these activities fit into a stay in Petrovac, through seven topics. Our linked guides continue with restaurants, places to stay, and tourist activities.
01Coffee and socialising
Coffee and socialising
In Petrovac, people also get together over coffee at waterfront cafes. Locals sit and talk about everyday matters, so these gatherings are not limited to the tourist season.
At Konoba Katic, residents chat over morning coffee, while some visitors sit looking out toward the islands. Coffee is served there outside the summer season, too.

02Shopping
Shopping
You can do your everyday grocery shopping at supermarkets in central Petrovac and in Brezine. The market offers another option for fruit, vegetables, and some local products, so you can use both supermarkets and stalls when preparing meals in your apartment. There are also separate clothing stores in town.
In one earlier shopping account, a customer noticed a busier central supermarket on Saturday afternoon, when people were also shopping for Sunday.
Regular stores are closed on Sundays. If you prepare your own meals, shop for that day in advance, with the legal exceptions explained below.

What changes on Sundays
If you are staying in an apartment in Petrovac, do your regular shopping for Sunday ahead of time. Current law prohibits regular retail sales on Sundays and holidays specified by law.
Exceptions include markets, pharmacies, stores specializing in baked goods, and gas stations with attached facilities. A legal exemption does not mean every such place is open or confirm the opening hours of Petrovac's market.
