01Waterfront walks, swimming and a film night
Walk along the waterfront towards the marina
Follow King Nikola Promenade beside the sea towards the public space in front of the marina. The I Love Bar sign is at the start of the promenade, while Kilometre Zero is on the pedestrian island in front of the marina. Either can serve as the start or end of your outing. Between them, walk along the coast and choose where to pause, adapting the walk to the time you have.
At the marina, the open sea view gives way to moorings and boats. Walk through the publicly accessible area beside them, then return along the promenade. For visits to the palace and other waterfront buildings, see Bar's sights. King Nikola Promenade, waterfront area on Google Maps.
Go swimming at Zukotrlica
At Zukotrlica, you can set aside part of the day for swimming and resting by the sea without travelling to a cove outside town. The beach is pebbly, so water shoes can make walking over the stones more comfortable. You decide how long to swim and rest, and the beach's position along the town's waterfront makes it easy to combine your visit with a walk.
Bar's tourist organisation lists free beach access and the availability of sun loungers and parasols. Hiring them is a separate service, with prices to check on site. Free access to the beach does not mean that the equipment is free. Zukotrlica, beach area on Google Maps.
Choose a film at the Cultural Centre's Winter Stage
For a film night, choose a screening in the indoor hall at the Winter Stage of the Vladimir Popovic Spanac Cultural Centre. An example from the current programme is Veriti, a psychological thriller and drama based on Colleen Hoover's novel: a writer takes on an assignment at the Crawford family estate and finds autobiographical notes that raise questions about truth and manipulation.
The Cultural Centre has announced Veriti for 10 October 2026 at 18:00 and 11 October at 21:00, with tickets priced at €4. These advertised times and the price apply to those screenings. For another date, choose a title from the current programme, which also names the stage. The indoor Winter Stage and the Summer Stage are different spaces, so go to the location specified for your screening. Vladimir Popovic Spanac Cultural Centre, cinema on Google Maps.
02Olive oil tasting at Kuca maslina
Taste olive oil at Kuca maslina
A tasting at Kuca maslina in Stari Bar lets you try the oils your host presents one by one and compare their aromas and flavours. Ask about the origins of the products as you taste them. The tasting and conversation introduce you to Bar's olive-growing tradition through what is produced today.
Kuca maslina lists tastings and tourist visits among its activities. Its official website lets you send a request with a date, number of visitors and a note. Say that you want a tasting, and confirm what it includes, its price and duration before arriving. The address is Ulica 9. januara 211A, Stari Bar. The Old Olive Tree at Mirovica is a separate venue option on the form, so a visit there needs a separate arrangement. Kuca maslina building in Stari Bar on Google Maps.
03Canyoning and self-guided kayaking
Go canyoning in Rikavac with a guide
Moving through Rikavac involves walking, swimming and rope descents through water and rocky terrain. On the guided programme, you use equipment to negotiate the obstacles, with jumps and slides that the guide adapts to the conditions.
Wild Montenegro advertises the programme from April to October, with swimming skills and suitable physical fitness required. A guide, equipment and an introductory briefing are included. The departure is confirmed by email, and weather conditions can delay or cancel it. Before fitting canyoning into your day, confirm the duration of the whole outing, the price, transport and the meeting place with the organiser. Rikavac Canyon area on Google Maps.
Paddle from Virpazar through the lake channels
From Virpazar, you paddle into lake channels among the vegetation, with views opening towards the hills on wider stretches of water. You paddle yourself and decide how often and how long to stop.
Kingfisher's three-hour self-guided programme includes a kayak, paddles, life jackets, waterproof bags, a map, instructions and a recommended route before departure, with help available on call. A guide does not accompany you on the water. The national park fee is included in this particular package. Check in at the Kingfisher desk beside the central bridge in Virpazar 30 minutes before departure.
The journey between Bar and Virpazar and check-in at the desk are separate from the three hours of paddling. The outing depends on the weather and a confirmed date, so choose a recommended route before departure that lets you return the kayak at the agreed time.
