Getting from the airport to Tivat

From Tivat Airport, you can reach town by taxi or rental car, while the local bus uses a station on the main road. Blue Line runs to central Tivat, and taxis and cars can take you onwards to other parts of town.

Local bus to the centre

You can take a local bus to the centre from the station beside Hifa, outside the airport forecourt. Reaching it involves about a six-minute walk. The off-season timetable has long gaps and no Sunday service.

Taxi transport from the airport

Red Taxi provides airport journeys in Tivat, with bookings available for the centre and other parts of town. For Pine, Porto Montenegro, Seljanovo or Donja Lastva, give the specific destination, since the short label “Tivat” does not describe all those journeys. You will find local operators’ contacts in the practical information guide.

Car hire at the airport

If Tivat is your base for exploring the Bay of Kotor or Lustica, collecting a car at TIV connects your arrival in town with the following days of your trip. The same vehicle can take you to Kotor, Perast or beaches outside town, without arranging new transport for each excursion. For a stay mainly around Pine and the marina, it is worth checking how much you will use the car and where you will park it before booking.

Returning from Tivat to the airport

You can reach Tivat Airport by taxi, rental car or a local bus from the centre to the station beside Hifa. The bus does not enter the airport forecourt, so a short walk to the terminal remains. Below are the check-in deadline and the arrangements for returning a rental car.

When to arrive at TIV

You should reach TIV at least two hours before your scheduled departure. Check-in opens 120 minutes before the flight and normally closes 30 minutes before it. Your airline may set an earlier deadline, which you must follow. The drive from Tivat, parking and car return all take place before the time you have set aside at the terminal.

The return journey and car handover

For a taxi return, agree on collection from your address in Tivat and the fare for that direction. This is a separate booking from the airport meeting. If you are returning a hire car, confirm with the company where the handover takes place and when the inspection finishes. Reaching the airport car park does not itself complete the handover, especially when the company collects the car by arrangement.

If you want to return it in Tivat, also request confirmation of a drop-off in another country.
