Parking in Tivat

Where to park in Tivat

Summer crowds in Tivat put particular pressure on parking in the centre and along the waterfront. Parking charges are split between two street zones and separate car parks, with summer and winter prices varying even within the same part of town.

The Red and Yellow zones are part of the street parking system. Their tickets do not cover the separate car parks along Tivat's waterfront or at the airport. For a short stay, you pay for each hour or part of an hour, while a daily rate can affect your choice of car park when spending the day in town.

Djacka and Muzicka skola for the centre and Pine

For the centre and Pine, start with Djacka if a lower price matters more to you. Muzicka skola car park on Stanicica Street is another option when approaching that side of the centre. From either car park, continue to the waterfront on foot.

These are separate car parks, so their tickets cannot be bought by sending an SMS for the Red or Yellow street zone. Both are open from 7 am to midnight, with the first 15 minutes free.

Djacka charges €0.70 per hour or part of an hour in summer and €0.50 in winter. A daily ticket costs €7 and €5 respectively. Muzicka skola charges €0.80 in summer and €0.70 in winter, with daily tickets costing €8 and €7 respectively. A lost ticket costs €10 at either car park.

02
Arsenal for Porto Montenegro and the cheaper Djacka alternative

For Porto Montenegro, choose Arsenal if you want to park on Arsenalska Street beside the marina complex. Djacka is an alternative if a lower price matters more and you are happy to walk to Porto from the town side.

Arsenal is open from 8 am to 10 pm. It is a separate car park. Pay for parking before leaving. You have 15 minutes to leave after payment. This is an exit allowance, not a free period on arrival. Arsenal has no initial free parking period.

Arsenal charges €2 per hour or part of an hour in summer and €1.50 in winter. Four chargeable hours cost €8 or €6, compared with €2.80 or €2 at Djacka. The difference is €5.20 in summer and €4 in winter. A lost ticket at Arsenal costs €50.

03
Ribarski put car park for Kalimanj

For Kalimanj, use Ribarski put car park on the street of the same name beside the marina. If arriving via Stanicica Street suits your journey, Muzicka skola is an alternative with lower hourly and daily rates.

Ribarski put is a separate car park, open from 7 am to 10 pm. The first 15 minutes are not free. Its rates are separate from those for Yellow Zone street spaces on Kalimanjska Street.

Ribarski put costs €1.50 per hour or part of an hour, or €15 for a daily ticket throughout the year. At Muzicka skola, a daily ticket costs €8 in summer and €7 in winter. For a full day, the difference is €7 and €8 respectively, if that location suits you.

04
Tivat Airport parking for passenger pick-up and longer stays

Use Tivat Airport's car park when collecting passengers or arriving for a flight. Charges start on entry, so even a short wait for a passenger is included. A daily rate is available when leaving your car during a trip, separate from the street zones in town.

The car park is open 24 hours a day. Pay for parking before leaving. You have 10 minutes to leave after payment. This allowance is not a free waiting period on arrival.

The price is €2 per hour or part of an hour, or €15 for a daily ticket, with no summer or winter difference. A lost ticket costs €50.

Street zones and payment

Red€1.00 / €0.80As shown on the sign at the space14590
Yellow€0.80 / €0.70As shown on the sign at the space14701

On-street parking charges apply from 7 am until 11 pm in summer, from 1 May to 30 September, and from 7 am until 9 pm in winter, from 1 October to 30 April. In winter, parking is not charged on Sundays or public holidays. In summer, parking is also charged on Sundays, except on public holidays. Garages and barrier-controlled car parks operate their own access arrangements.

For SMS payment, type prefix 3 for the Red Zone or 1 for the Yellow Zone, a space, then the vehicle registration number without spaces or other characters. Send the message to the zone number shown in the table. Each such message purchases one hour. Check the reply for confirmation of payment, the registration number, zone and expiry time. If you receive no confirmation or a failed-payment message, buy a ticket at a kiosk or an authorised sales point instead.

When your paid parking time expires, you have 15 minutes to pay for more time or remove the car. The first 15 minutes after arrival are free. Check the sign at the space where you parked for the permitted stay.

If your phone number does not support local SMS payment, buy a parking ticket at a kiosk or an authorised sales point.

Day ticket

A day ticket for the Red Zone costs €10.00 in summer and €8.00 in winter, and for the Yellow Zone €8.00 in summer and €7.00 in winter. It is valid only in the zone you paid for, from the hour of purchase until the same hour on the next day on which parking is charged. The usual hourly SMS payment does not buy a day ticket: for the Red Zone, send prefix 4 and your vehicle registration number to 14590, and for the Yellow Zone prefix 2 and your vehicle registration number to 14701, with a space between the prefix and registration number. You can also buy a ticket at an authorised sales point. It is not valid at Arsenal, Djacka, Muzicka skola or Ribarski put, or at the airport.

Arsenal has the largest seasonal difference in hourly rates among these town car parks. Its summer rate is €0.50 higher for each hour or part of an hour.

Ribarski put stays at €1.50 per hour or part of an hour and Tivat Airport at €2 throughout the year. A daily ticket costs €15 at both. Seasonal reductions in town therefore do not mean a lower airport price.

Fines and towing

Parking charges, penalty notices and vehicle towing

Parking or stopping where prohibited€100 per penalty notice

The statutory fine for prohibited parking or obstructing traffic is €100-€300. A penalty notice specifies the minimum sum in this range. This fine is distinct from the parking charge for an unpaid street-zone ticket.

Paying a penalty notice

Under the usual procedure, accepting responsibility allows payment of half the fine within eight days of accepting the notice. For a €100 notice, the reduced amount is €50.

There is an exception for someone with no permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro, or someone leaving the country, if the competent authority reasonably suspects that enforcement will be evaded. In those circumstances, two-thirds of the fine is payable without delay. Follow the sum and payment details on the notice issued to you.

If you cannot find the car, check with Parking Servis Tivat whether it has been towed. Before going there, call 068 801 645 or 032 780 190 to confirm where the car is and ask for collection instructions.

Common questions about parking in Tivat

Do I pay for street parking on Sundays or late in the evening?

In the Red and Yellow zones, parking is charged on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 am to 11 pm. Sundays and hours outside that period are not included in this charging schedule. This applies to street zones, not separate car parks such as Arsenal or the airport, which have their own opening hours and charges.

Is there a parking ticket for a week's stay in Tivat?

There is a seven-day DTK tourist package. For the Red Zone, it costs €50 in summer and €40 in winter. For the Yellow Zone, it costs €40 in summer and €30 in winter. This is a tourist package for a street zone, not seven days of parking at the airport or Arsenal. Contact Parking Servis Tivat on 068 801 645 for purchase details and the conditions that apply to your vehicle.

What does a 20-minute wait for a passenger at the airport cost?

You pay for one hour or part of an hour, which costs €2. If the wait exceeds an hour, a second hour is charged. The 10-minute exit allowance begins after payment and is not deducted from the time you spent waiting for the passenger.
