Where to park in Igalo
Parking in Igalo depends on the season and whether you choose an on-street space or a car park with a barrier. In winter, some marked street spaces are free, while Parking Igalo has lower hourly and daily charges than in summer. On-street SMS payment is unavailable with a foreign SIM card, so the alternative is a digital ticket from a marked sales point.

Car parks with barriers in Igalo use an entry ticket for payment, while on-street parking uses your vehicle registration number and the zone colour. An on-street day ticket therefore does not cover a stay in a car park behind a barrier.

01Parking Igalo on Norveska Street
For a destination on Norveska Street, Parking Igalo is the choice when you want a car park with a barrier and payment at a self-service machine. On-street SMS is not a payment method for this car park.
Use the ticket collected at the entrance rather than an on-street ticket for a zone colour. Keep it for payment and exit, and pay for parking at the self-service machine before heading to the exit barrier. Available payment methods depend on the location and are shown on the machine.
From 1 October to 31 May, an hour in the car park costs €0.60 and a day ticket for 24 hours costs €4. In the summer period from 1 June to 30 September, an hour costs €1 and a day ticket costs €6. The car park is open 24 hours a day.
02On-street parking on Sava Ilica
For Ribarska Street and the southern entrance to the Dr Simo Milosevic Institute, the on-street option is the marked spaces on the south side of Sava Ilica.
Spaces 1-58 between Ribarska Street and the Institute's southern entrance are in Zone III, the yellow zone. The winter exemption covers these marked spaces.
From 1 October to 31 May, parking is free with no time limit. From 1 June to 30 September, one hour in the yellow zone costs €0.70.
Street zones and payment
| Zone | Per hour - winter | Usual on-street maximum stay | SMS for one hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purple | €1.50 | 1 hour | 14516 |
| I red | €1.00 | No time limit | 14510 |
| II blue | €0.80 | No time limit | 14511 |
| III yellow | €0.60 | No time limit | 14512 |
On-street parking charges apply from Monday to Saturday, from 7 am to 5 pm in the purple zone and from 7 am to 9 pm in the red, blue and yellow zones. The winter period runs from 1 October to 31 May, and on-street zones are free on Sundays. Garages and barrier-controlled car parks operate their own access arrangements.
For SMS payment, type the vehicle registration number in Latin letters exactly as shown on the plate, without spaces or other characters, then send it to the zone number shown in the table. Each message purchases one hour. Check the reply for confirmation of payment, the vehicle, zone and validity period. If you receive no confirmation or a failed-payment message, buy a digital ticket at a marked sales point instead. You have 15 minutes after parking to buy a ticket.
You can purchase another hour before the current one expires if the zone still allows more time. The purple zone allows one hour with no extension. At the maximum stay, remove the car. You may park again after 60 minutes. There is no time limit in the red, blue and yellow zones. There is no grace period after a paid ticket expires.
If your phone number does not support local SMS payment, buy a digital ticket at a marked sales point. SMS payment works only with numbers from Montenegrin mobile operators, not with a foreign number or while roaming. Give the seller your vehicle registration number, zone colour and intended duration. The ticket is activated as soon as the details are entered. Keep the slip and receipt after paying.
Day ticket
The winter day ticket costs €8 for Zone I red, €6 for Zone II blue and €4 for Zone III yellow. It is valid for the calendar day it is bought for, during charging hours. The hourly SMS numbers in this table buy one hour. To buy a day ticket, send your vehicle registration number without spaces or other characters to 14517 for red, 14518 for blue or 14513 for yellow, and wait for confirmation. You can also buy a digital ticket at a marked sales point. It is not valid in the purple zone, a garage or a car park with a barrier.

Parking charges, penalty notices and vehicle towing
Parking servis issues a daily surcharge ticket, not a penalty notice. It costs €15 for 24 hours. Follow the instructions on the ticket and pay within eight days of issue to receive a 33.33% discount.
The statutory fine for prohibited parking or obstructing traffic is €100-€300. A penalty notice specifies the minimum sum in this range. This fine is distinct from the parking charge for an unpaid street-zone ticket.
Once a towing intervention begins, it costs €30. Moving the vehicle to the depot costs €30, and storage costs €5 per day. The daily surcharge ticket is also payable when the towing service intervenes. Vehicle removal costs are payable separately from the traffic fine.
Paying a penalty notice
Under the usual procedure, accepting responsibility allows payment of half the fine within eight days of accepting the notice. For a €100 notice, the reduced amount is €50.
There is an exception for someone with no permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro, or someone leaving the country, if the competent authority reasonably suspects that enforcement will be evaded. In those circumstances, two-thirds of the fine is payable without delay. Follow the sum and payment details on the notice issued to you.
If you cannot find the car, check with Parking servis whether it has been towed. Parking servis has published Herceg Novi Parking Service depot, Druge Dalmatinske, Igalo as the collection site. Before going there, call 19800 to confirm where your car is. The vehicle-removal charge is paid on the spot when you collect it.

Frequently asked questions about parking in Igalo
Do I need to leave a digital parking ticket in the car?

A ticket with the wrong registration number is not valid for your vehicle. Check the details on the slip immediately and report any error to the employee at the sales point, as it cannot be corrected later.
