01Rooms of the former residence
Villa Galeb

Visitors to Villa Galeb can see rooms for official meetings, the apartments of Tito and Jovanka Broz, and one apartment where the president's close associates stayed. The different rooms show how the work of Yugoslavia's president, the reception of guests and private domestic life shared the same residence.
The villa was built in 1976 as part of the Institute in Igalo. The building is surrounded by pine trees and looks towards the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. Its long wings enclose an inner courtyard, while the red roof stands out among the pines. The tour, however, covers selected rooms that the Institute has prepared for visitors. It does not provide unrestricted entry to the entire complex.
Organised visit: The Institute's published programme lists a ticket price of 10 euros and departures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 18:00 from the villa's main gate. The programme gives a start date for visits but does not publish the end of the season. Confirm that a tour will take place on the date of your stay. According to the offer, tickets can be bought at the Institute's ticket office with cash or a card, or at the gate immediately before the tour with cash only.
Villa Galeb visit programme02The river mouth and built-up coast
Blatna Beach and the Sutorina river mouth

Blatna Beach forms part of the low shoreline in western Igalo, near the mouth of the Sutorina River. The shallow waters of the Bay of Kotor lie beside the beach, and the view from this stretch of shore takes in the water, the settlement and the slopes behind it. The beach and the point where the river enters the sea are close to one another, but they are separate locations.
Marine mud, known as peloid, forms in the shallow Igalo Bay and is used by the Institute. It connects this stretch of coast with the development of the treatment centre. How the mud forms and how it differs from underground mineral water is explained in the guide to Igalo.
Coastal area: View the beach from accessible public areas. The river-mouth marker on the map shows where the river enters the sea, without promising a developed path to it. For swimming, follow the notices for the specific bathing site and its water-quality monitoring results.
Spatial description of the Sutorina river-mouth areaThe Igalo waterfront and Pet Danica Promenade

The Igalo waterfront is a built-up stretch of coast with a pedestrian passage and bathing platforms between the sea and the settlement's buildings. The Institute's healthcare and accommodation buildings are among those along the shore. The view from the waterfront takes in the bay as well as the facades facing the water: the sea is right beside the settlement here, and the space between them is used for walking and bathing.
The coastal passage continues towards Topla and Herceg Novi along Pet Danica Promenade. To choose a stretch to walk and other recreational outings, see things to do in Igalo.
Passage beside the sea: The public coastal passage allows you to view the waterfront. Entry to bathing, accommodation or treatment facilities beside it is subject to their own conditions. The map marks the waterfront location without confirming step-free access or the current rules for vehicles.
The Igalo-Meljine coastal corridorChoose an organised tour of Villa Galeb to see the interior of the former residence. The guide explains the earlier purpose of each room, and entry depends on the tour time. For independent sightseeing, the Igalo coast offers open space outside the residence, with views of the sea, the river and the buildings of the settlement.
The waterfront offers a view of the sea-facing settlement, its coastal buildings and an established coastal walkway. Blatna Beach and the river mouth draw attention to the shallows and the point where the river ends. The first setting shows the settlement's built frontage, while the second reveals the relationship between river water, shoreline and bay.
Two coastal names and two Galeb buildings
Obala Nikole Kovacevica is the name of the Igalo coastal stretch that connects with Pet Danica Promenade. The municipal street list identifies them as connected, separately named parts of the shore. When looking for an address along the waterfront, the full street name distinguishes the Igalo stretch from its continuation towards Herceg Novi.
The municipal list uses the Galeb building as a landmark at the junction of Obala Nikole Kovacevica and Pet Danica Promenade. Villa Galeb is Tito's former residence within the Institute. To visit it, look for the villa's full name and a tour departure confirmed by the Institute. The Galeb name on the waterfront refers to a different building.
A cinema in the residence and a railway along the coast
The Institute's description of the visit includes a room where Tito watched films with associates and guests. It adds a shared leisure space to the residence, alongside the rooms for work and the private apartments.
Today's pedestrian route along the coast follows the former alignment of a narrow-gauge railway. Before the promenade, a railway connection between places around the bay passed this way. The long coastal passage also lets you see the direction in which traffic once travelled.
